It’s not an idea, that’s actually what the problem is. Anyone who knows Japanese well knows that Kaiba’s arrogance and rudeness in the original had more to do with how disrespectful he was towards other via language than what he was actually saying at times. Honorifics are still a very important part of daily life in Japan. You don’t talk down to elders, teachers, etc and Kaiba just don’t give a shit.
He also as the accent equivalent of being a hick.
